Here at HeavenlyCakes we wanted to simplify our baking treats so that everyone can enjoy my home-bakes without spending the whole day in the kitchen. We decided that there is nothing better than my classic English Scone recipe to share! And it is perfectly rich, crumbly and so easy to make!

Equipment: You will need!
Baking paper ,Baking tray ,Cookie cutter, Mixing bowl , Weighing scales, Wooden spoon, Gloves, Rolling pin, Sieve
Recipe: You will need!
450g Self Raising Flour, 50g Caster Sugar, 110g of softened unsalted butter cubed,
x1 egg very lightly beaten,
x1 egg beaten with a splash of milk for the glaze,
A generous pinch of salt ,
A pinch of baking powder,
200ml of milk
60g of Sultana
Jam, Butter & Cream to serve!
Directions...
1. Turn on your oven to 180 degrees or gas 4, lightly grease a baking tray and line with baking paper. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl, make a well and stir the sugar in slowly.
2.Using your fingertips, lightly rub the butter with your finger tips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Alternatively use a food processor to combine your mix be careful not to over mix.
3. Make a well in the middle of your mixture and add the egg first and milk mixture, but start with 100ml until it is moisten. Add you sultanas! You may not need to use all the milk, Mix well until it has a nice soft dough texture but make sure it is not too moist. Gather the dough into a ball and place on a floured surface I like to use a wooden board. See picture below.

4. Roll out lightly to about 3cm thick. Use your cutter then transfer to a greased proof baking tray and lightly brush your tops with the egg and milk glaze. Bake in a preheated oven for approx 18-20 minutes or until golden.
Top Tip. Dip your cutter into the bag then tap on the board each time you cut out a scone from the dough. This will allow easy realise and keep that perfect shape!
5. Cool for 5-10 minutes on a wired rack, serve with jam, cream & butter.
